One of the most prestigious European banking organizations - The European Association of Public Banks (EAPB) has elected the Executive Director of Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) Mr. Sasho Tchakalski for Vice-President. This has become today in the general assembly of the association in Brussels. The Bulgarian banker will be responsible for the relations of the association with the regulatory authorities in Brussels. His candidature was voted with a full majority of the 35 members of the administrative board of EAPB.
The Bulgarian banker was so far a member of the administrative board of the association. Mr. Sasho Tchakalski is Executive Director of BDB from 2001 and he has worked for the French bank Societe Generale for five years. Mr. Tchakalski speaks English, French and Russian language.
The European Association of Public Banks was established in 2000 and represents the interests of public state - owned banks and development banks on European level. The EAPB has members from 16 countries and represents about 100 financial institutions in the public-private investment sector. At the end of 2009, the market share of the member - banks of EAPB was about 15 per cent and their assets exceeded EUR 3 500 billion. Bulgarian Development Bank is a member of EAPB since May 2005.
